"I think Joan must have been one very unlucky lady on that day. I am an avid worshipper of the place and although the food may take a while it always tastes yummy. They always have a special on the day too which is often vegan! Naturally, due to the no smoking ban the air is much fresher now. There's always some interesting music playing and the art on the walls alternate, I believe on a monthly basis. The place encourages new poets with the DIY Poets Society on on the first Wed of the month. "

"I've always found the food at the Alley Cafe to be excellent from a vegetarian point of view, especially their veggie sausage and fried onion sandwiches!! Yum Yum!! Occasionally I've had some of the vegan specials and they were delicious. Perhaps it was an oversight, although I agree A big one, putting cheese on a vegan meal! I only ever go on a lunch time, because I do agree that the cafe is a bit noisy and smoky. "

"Very disappointing place. Smoky, noisy, and the portions are very small. The drinks are bulked up with ice, and the main courses with lettuce. My pizza came with cheese on it, even though I told them I'm vegan. They acted as if I was being rude when I pointed this out. "
